A short review for this first issue. Everyone knows Rainbow Brite, the character at least. I am just not sure if I ever watched anything of the show/collected any dolls. I just can't remember if it ever was that big in my country. So I was definitely curious to try out these comic books. This first issue pretty much sets the tone for what is about to come. We see our girl play with her friends, at night strange things go bump, and boom she is in a different world. I loved that she was so strong, brave, and that she could kick some serious ass thanks to that play thing she does with her best friend. However, it did feel a bit boring. It is only like 30 pages, but it felt way longer at times. That is why I also decided not to read further for now. Maybe when the full bundled volume comes out. The art was pretty OK. Very colourful.

4.5 stars I would just like to preface this by saying that I have never read nor watched Rainbow Brite before. Jeremy Whitley’s whimsical first issue was my introduction to the aptly named ‘Rainbow Land’ — and I was only left wanting more. The beginning of the issue introduces us to Wisp and Willow, two young girls who just want to play knights and wizards and eat snacks. Their friendship is adorable, as is how much they love playing together, demonstrated by the effort Willow has gone to with her own costume she ‘LARPS’ in. The comic is very cheery and lighthearted, and I particularly liked a message in the beginning about how sometimes being a good person means being nice to people who aren’t. It’s something kids and adults alike need to hear more often! Things take a darker turn for Wisp when she comes home, with an ending that left me eagerly anticipating the next issue already. The characters, world, and tone of the comic were all charming, paired with the cutest art inside (and an outstanding cover by Tony Fleecs). This is an enjoyable read for all ages and I have high hopes for the following issues!

Hmm. I get this is an origin story, but too much of it takes place in the real world. They reach Rainbow Land and the comic's over. The characters are interesting and spunky enough, but I honestly had been hoping for more. Not really a fan of the cover or Twinkle's redesign either, but Wisp and Willow and everything else looks fine.

I enjoyed this more than any comic I've read in a while! It's really cute and feels so nostalgic. I haven't watched the Rainbow Brite cartoons since the actual 80s, and as a kid they weren't my favorite, but man, this comic was a fun read! It starts out on Earth, with two little girls, Willow and Wisp, who enjoy roleplaying. Their little adventure was adorable, but the real adventure begins when Wisp goes home and finds monsters sucking all the color out of her mom's car. What's next? I can't wait to find out!

I'm a sucker for anything from my childhood and I've been really impressed with how comics like this one give more of an interesting take on some of my favorite characters. In the past, a lot of these brightly colored creatures and people were nothing more than just pictures used for figures and greeting cards. I'm very impressed that Whitley has started off giving the character a backstory and with the whimsical art work, this first issue is a delight.

I have been eagerly waiting for this since it was announced earlier this year! Did not disappoint. I'm too young to have watched the original Rainbow Brite cartoon so I don't know the original story for her as a character but so far I am in love with the LARP duo of Willow and Wisp. I anxious to see how their adventures proceed! Would be really enjoyable for younger nerds as well!

Hate when the cover art doesn’t match the interior art.

Good but Way too short, I also don't like how they did Twink aka Twinkle into this magical know it all. The artwork is good but it's very very short.
