I picked up this series because its cover is screaming "Harry Potter". More over the word "magic" caught me too. But I think this was too much of a plain issue for starting the series. Anyway, it's not that similar to Harry Potter. It's just the cover which gave me that vibes along with teeny tiny things in comic. Protagonist, Tim, has to find books which will teach him the magic he is destined to. I must say, the protagonist doesn't look much similar to that of cover. Better then expected. Promising story and character, nothing extraordinary so far, but for a first issue it's looking good. A mix between Harry Potter and The Magicians (probably closer to a soft middle age Magicians series).

So this seems to wipe out all previous Tim Hunter comics and take us right back to the beginning, which isn't totally a bad thing because I remember most of it as being distinctly 'meh'. The fact that they've never been completely collected in tpb form has always spoken volumes. The main negative of this new run is, for me, the art. It really worked for the recap, that was great, but it didn't work for the rest of it. Tim looks angry most of the time and slightly podgy, instead of scrawny. On the plus side, Hettie! One of my faves. 😁

I havent read the original series but this just felt like a different take on Harry Potter. I know this originally came out prior to Harry Potter but I unfortunately or fortunately depends on the way you look af it, read HP first as a boy. Its a cool simple story. Has a good ability of dialgoue and art. The art is great, just wish Tim did look so much like Harry.

If you've read original books about Tim than you know that they are very detailed account of his importance for the universe, and the magical realm. This books can be seen as a sort of sequel but I prefer to see them as a new beginning. New beginnings can be tough. This is no different. We'll see where it will lead.

Está bien. Bastante plano para comenzar la serie pero promete. Si llega a tener un mínimo del nivel que manejó el guión de Neil Gaiman en el original va a ser genial, pero por ahora parece una historia como mucho entretenida. Habrá que ver.

I have not read anything from the previous series. But it won't stop me from reading this one. Good start, looking forward to the rest of the series.

There isn't much going on in this volume, but it does a nice job setting up the story. I'm interested to see where it's headed.

Absolutely loved this series as a boy, looking forward to diving back into Tim’s world. The art is gorgeous.
