When I saw the review opportunity for this book, I wanted in. One day I will read the non-1,001 Dark Nights books. But for now, I'm really enjoying the novellas. This one was fantastic! Dorian, one of the ancient Dragon Kings, has been asleep longer than any other Dragon King. Years ago, his hatred for humans led him to decide to sleep indefinitely when the wars were over. But now, years later, he is awakened by the King of Kings, Constantine. Con needs his help to steal an artifact that could aid the Dragon Kings in the war against an ancient foe. Dorian hates humans and wants nothing to do with them, but his unique ability of invisibility makes him the perfect candidate to steal the artifact. But things don't go according to plan when Dorian meets Alexandra Sheridan, the heiress who has the artifact. Alexandra knows there is something different about Dorian, but that doesn't stop her from wanting him more than she has ever wanted someone. Little does she know that her life about to change. This story went by incredibly quickly! I could not put it down. I couldn't read fast enough. Dorian's heartbreaking backstory, and Alexandra's loneliness, made the story so much more intense and engrossing. I loved their love story, but I also loved each of their backstories. Dorian and Alexandra are both similar in that they keep to themselves, on purpose. They suffered greatly in their past, and their power and status make them targets in their communities. Alexandra is a rich heiress who doesn't date anyone or let anyone close to her. Dorian is an ancient Dragon King who suffered great loss at the hands of humans and for that, hates all humans. Dorian and Alexandra are an unlikely pair, but that is exactly what makes them irresistible as a couple. How they meet: Alexandra does a lot of charity work, and one event she does every year is a bachelorette auction, in which she is bid on, and the highest bidder gets to take her on a date. The money does to a charity. This year, a handsome and mysterious Scotsman (with a sigh-inducing accent!) outbids everyone - by a lot. Dorian appears to be different than previous dates - he doesn't seem to be after her money, or trying to seduce her. But their attraction is pretty much instantaneous. The chemistry between Dorian and Alexandra is off the charts. I love that about Grant's books! You can pretty much expect a ~fiery~ hot read (makes sense, given that we're dealing with dragons). This is a novella and therefore shorter than a full-length novel, but the chemistry was super hot. The steamy scenes were hot. So much steamy! At the same time, you could see Dorian and Alexandra's shifting feelings for each other. Dorian began the book hating humans, but Alexandra changed that. His rage and thirst for vengeance cooled. Alexandra was lonely and sad, but Dorian changed that. Did I mention how much I adored Dorian yet? No? Dorian is a tortured sweetheart that I could not help but fall for. He is filled with rage and grief, and he wants so badly to torch the earth and kill all the humans. What he needed was healing, and he got that with Alexandra. Dorian is a charming, brooding, mysterious guy - the definition of tall, dark, and handsome. And broody. I love that, when Alexandra found out that Dorian was after her artifact, she didn't storm out of his life. Hear me out. She got very angry - and justifiably so! Everyone wants something from her, and she thought Dorian was different. So she was angry. BUT she evaluated her feelings, and his actions, and she realized that he never tried to hurt her, and he could have taken the artifact at any time, but he didn't. I like that she thought things out and went to talk to him - rather than declare him dead to her and out of her life. This is a very rational response on her part and I liked that. Shout-out to her assistant Meg, who helped Alexandra in many ways, but especially when it came to the decision to talk to Dorian. Meg is so supportive and patient, and a good friend to Alexandra (even if she is an employee of Alexandra). To sum things up - I really enjoyed this book. It was a refreshing read that pulled me out of my reading slump (I hope it did). The ending is really sweet and a great HEA. I love HEAs and I'm so glad Dorian and Alexandra have theirs. I am hoping to read the next book in the series soon (it publishes at the end of October) and I am crossing my fingers for a Dorian/Alexandra cameo! What I Did Not Like: Nothing to say here, except maybe that I wish there were more pages for me to read and enjoy! Would I Recommend It: I highly recommend the Dark Kings series in general! But in particular, these Dark Kings novellas published in the 1,001 Dark Nights collections. Dragon Night was fantastic - unputdownable, mesmerizing, and very sexy. Who doesn't love dragons? Especially sexy ones. Rating: 5 stars. Another great read by Donna Grant. I can't wait to read her next book in the series. It publishes soon!

It numbers at #13.5 and features Dorian, a Dragon King so filled with hate for mortals that Con has kept him sleeping with little time awake. He has the gift of invisibility which is what the Dragon Kings need to access a relic that may help them understand what is going on with this new war. Of all places to send Dorian with his bottled up hate of humans, is New York. Alexandra Sheridan lives in New York with an antique collection that her family has been putting together for generations. She has refused all attempts to buy the relic from her collection so the Dragon Kings are counting on Dorian to get in and either convince her to sell or use his gift to steal it. What Dorian finds is a woman who can calm the anger boiling inside him. His plans of popping in, stealing the relic and popping out again are ruined as he decides he doesn't want to betray this human. Most of the story flowed with Dorian and Alex's developing relationship, but then something happens to Dorian which questions his immortality. My fear for what this new development means for the Dragon Kings is off the charts. These new enemies of the Dragon Kings and what they are capable of is really scary. We have evidence that one person we know may be involved, but it takes more than this person to put all this together. I loved the way that Alex calmed Dorian. I didn't want to see what may happen to him if his anger got out of control and Con had to put him back to sleep. Alex's determination to help the Dragon Kings with their fight brings her right into the fold. I think we are going to have a mass mating ceremony soon as Ulrick and Eilish still need to be formally mated and now Alex and Dorian. I don't think Dorian explained the "no having children" thing very well to Alex. I don't think she really had that sink in before she agreed to be with him. However, with her abilities to help the Kings, I'm just glad she accepted. Dragon Night was filled with a sweet romance as well as some excitement and adrenaline. I feel like the Kings are getting braver and braver when it comes to risking their presence being known to the humans. This was definitely was a quick, enjoyable read. It could be read as a standalone, although I think it carries important information about a vulnerability the Kings may have as well as who their enemies could be. Dragon Night makes me even more anxious to dive into Dragonfire coming out at the end of the month! I can't get enough of these Dragons. More and more of them get revealed as they wake up so the stories just keep on coming. I enjoyed the romance, the effect that Alex had on Dorian. The adventure and excitement kept me glued to the pages as I tried to figure out in my mind what the heck was happening to the Kings. I definitely recommend this installment! Excerpt “I’m sending you to get this artifact, Dorian. We’re no’ thieves. Unless we have no other choice. I’d like to see if you can buy it from the mortal first. If that doesna work, then get it any way you can.” Dorian watched as Con turned on his heel and walked from the cavern. He might not have been involved in the many battles or daily machinations of the ongoing conflicts with their enemies, but that didn’t mean Dorian hadn’t felt the anger and desolation when his brethren had lost or the contentment and delight when they won. In every word Con uttered while detailing everything, Dorian perceived his worry, his unease. But more than that, Dorian felt the fear that ran through Dreagan at their new nemesis. Whoever this band of Dark and Light Fae and drough and mie Druid, their first strike had been substantial. The ramifications of the Kings touching the wooden dragon still caused ripples, and likely would for some time. Dorian rolled his shoulders. His muscles were stiff from his time sleeping. Whether in dragon or human form, he needed to remember who he was. He’d be happy to remain in his true form forever, but his King called for him. And that meant Dorian was going to have to interact with the very beings he wanted to wipe from the realm. Slowly, he walked to the water. His enhanced eyesight didn’t need the aid of any light as he peered over the edge to look at himself. As soon as he saw his face, he cringed and jerked back. He wasn’t prepared for this. But there wasn’t time for him to get ready. Dorian blew out a breath. The last time he had been outside his mountain was after he watched his dragons cross the dragon bridge to a new realm and helped to bind Ulrik’s magic. He’d been inconsolable, his world shattered in the space of a heartbeat. Everything he’d loved, everything he’d lived for had been taken from him. Viciously. Cruelly. Ruthlessly. Con had brought him to his mountain because Con knew if Dorian was left alone that he would finish what Ulrik had begun. There wasn’t a day that went by that Dorian didn’t dream of his life before the humans. Or plot their demise. Now Con wanted him out in the world. Dorian would get what was needed to battle their new foes, but every chance he got, he would take out a mortal. They didn’t belong on this realm. It wasn’t theirs. It belonged to the dragons. And the dragons would take it back. Soon. Very soon.     BOOK TRAILER This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

You guys know that I love me some Dragon Kings and this 1,001 Dark Nights Dragon King Novella did not change that at all. I loved meeting a new King and learning his story. As always you can jump right in any where with a 1001 Dark Nights Novella and not feel like you are completely in the dark. I will say that with the number of books that have come before this one in this series there is a lot of history at play but instead of feeling lost this book will just make you want to go back and start from the beginning so you can get to know all these Kings and their histories! I am particularly in love with this story because it is clear we are getting to a point where Rhi's elusive Dragon King is going to be revealed and I honestly don't know if Donna is just playing with my feelings and twisting my heart up in knots just to yell "Gotcha!" when that book finally comes out or if she is well and truly leading to the one King I have fallen in and out of love with over and over, have wanted it to be him and wanted it to be the farthest thing from him every other book. We are getting there, and our answer is coming and I honestly can't wait. Dorian and Alex's love is fast paced. I wouldn't call it Insta, but this is a novella so things do happen at a clipped pace. It is hot, steamy, and oh so emotional. I love both of these characters equally and they make a great addition to the storyline. Grab this book up whether you are a long time Dragon King reader or if this is your first experience. I can promise you it will be an experience well worth taking! ~ HAPPY READING ~

Another great addition to the Dark King's world. I love this series. Grant does a amazing job at keeping a long series interesting and captivating. I am always excited for her books and I have yet to be disappointed. I really enjoyed these two and their romance. It was a perfect blend of romance, overcoming past issues, and learning to trust again.

Donna nailed it again!!! From the start up to the last, I was hooked. Dragon Night is Dorian's story, one of the Dragon kings. Anyway, the way the story started, I was hooked and as the story goes I feel in love with not just only Dorian but also Alexandra (and her assistant). I love how Donna wrote Dorian's story. It was carefully executed and attention grabbing. Loved it!!

For some reason, I found myself smiling an awful lot while reading this book. It was just really good. While I am not a fan of insta-love at all, I can go with it sometimes when it works. And here it did. I don't think we've met a King that has hated humans so intensely as Dorian does. When Con sends him to NYC it takes everything in him not to slaughter them all. I don't think we've met a King that has hated humans so intensely as Dorian does. When Con sends him to NYC it takes everything in him not to slaughter them all. But he's determined to complete this mission the way Con wants him to and be part of the group again instead of sleeping the years away. Dorian has been sent there to retrieve an artifact that may or may not be important to the Dragon Kings. Con has already tried to buy it, only to be refused. So he decided to send Dorian to try and convince the owner to sell it, and if that doesn't work, do whatever he has to to obtain it. Dorian's special gift is that he can turn invisible, so he's frustrated that he can't just go and take it to start with. Alexandra is a high society socialite that doesn't fit in with that crowd. She has always dreamed of a quiet life somewhere peaceful, but never believes it will happen. The one problem I had with this story deals with her. Apparently she is obscenely rich from some family money but we never find out where it came from. And it's because of this money that people even try to kill her, and apparently often. WHY??? We don't know. Despite all her money and status, Alex was a very down to earth and good person. Which made her pretty likable. She often does charity work, and it's at one such event that she meets Dorian. The perfect opportunity for Dorian to get Alex alone presents itself in the form of a charity auction where the prize is a date with her. He easily wins. Dorian went into this with a singular mindset but from the moment he sees the real Alex he finds himself under her spell. A similar thing can be said for Alex. Dorian makes her feel as if she could walk on clouds and she finds it so easy to be herself around him. Dorian fights himself with what he wants to do and what he should do, which turns out to be harder than he would have thought. When Alex happens to find out what he is and what he can do, it looks as if things are about to go bad for them. But I liked how Alex sucks up her fear and goes to find out answers. And because of that, the Kings get what they want but also find out that Usaeil is up to a lot more than they thought and none of it good. I loved how this whole book went down from beginning to end. The one issue I had with the end though would be the fact that two mortals know the truth of the Kings and nothing was done about that. At least not that we find out. Considering they want to stay hidden still, this seems like a big risk all things considered.

Of the sleeping dragon kings, Dorian, Dragon King of the Corals has never awoken. He took to his mountain after the war with humans and has slept through the centuries. Kept abreast of events via mental link as he slept, he knows what his brethren now face yet he still does not wake. His hatred of humans is as dark as Ulrik’s was. If he wakes he knows he will kill them but Constantine needs his unique ability, invisibility. The dragon kings need an artifact believed to have Fae origins and protected by magic which the owner refuses to sell. Dorian’s mission is to get the owner to finally sell or take the object if that fails. Can this dragon-shifter accomplish this without killing the humans he so abhors? Can he accept an attraction to a human woman after what the humans cost him? The beautiful philanthropist Alexandra Sheridan was born into extreme wealth and with that came the fear of being used for her money, of being wanted only for her money which can’t buy happiness or true friends. She stays apart from the world as much as possible preferring to deal with those she trusts, four bodyguards and an assistant. Lonesomeness is a standard condition for her until she is auctioned off for a date at a charity event to an intriguing Scotsman in a tuxedo with kilts, the sexiest, most handsome man she’s ever seen. She’s drawn to him like to no other but when she accidentally learns what he is, she runs in fear. Can she learn to accept the existence of dragons? In this story, we meet a new dragon king from whom we learn more about the dragon/human war through Dorian’s personal experiences of it. He has valid reasons for his hatred of humanity but the world has changed dramatically as he slept, there are humans sincerely aligned with the dragons and the list of enemies the dragon kings have keeps growing. Continuing to sleep was no longer an option when his king called on him. Dorian controls the urge to kill humans as he gets to know the one that could help the dragon kings and in that budding relationship there is growth and healing for not just himself but Alexandra. The suspenseful underlying storyline moves forward with new developments. Just as you think there might be some resolution to parts of this epic series new twists are added to confound the reader and leave them wanting more..

So he is sent to meet Alexandra, as it's her family that has owned this artifact for years. Alexandra always has someone trying to get her attention just because of how much money her family has. She is never sure if they want to be with her for her or her money. So she tends to stay apart. Until she meets a very charming Scotsman who treats her differently than anyone ever has. But when secrets come to light, things conspire to try to tear them apart. I absolutely loved this book!! Dorian has such massive anger issues but when he begins to realize that not everyone is conspiring to hurt his people, he will finally begin to move on from them. Especially when he realizes exactly what Alexandra is to him. Alexandra has had a hard life for all that she has tons of money. Many don't realize that money doesn't mean happiness, especially if it hinders your own dreams. I loved them both! They are both such strong people who have gone through terrible things but they manage to find some sort of happiness through it all. And of course I love how the main story is pushed along with our glimpses of Rhi, Con, and all the other Kings! I can't wait for Queen B**** to get her comeuppance!!

Now, they must work together to figure out who is trying to destroy the Dragon Kings.  This book may have been called a novella, but it felt like a full-length novel. Dorian was such a tragic character who had lost so much and isolated himself, he definitely deserved to have someone like Alex in his life. Alex had also been through her own share of hardships, and Dorian really allowed her to move past that.  This book's plot moves smoothly, and there was far more character development than I had expected for a novella. I fell in love with both characters by the time I was done with the novel, and I know you will too. Alex is a determined young woman and Dorian is a troubled young man who needs someone to take the time and love him. There were no editing errors or grammar errors in this advanced copy of the book I received.  I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new dragon-shifter romance novel that includes some Highlander romance themes. It seems like a strange mash-up, but I promise you that it works by the end! I received an advance copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

I loved that once she got over her initial fear, she immediately becomes a champion for the cause. Her stalwart independence is the gift that keeps on giving as she fights for her Dragon King. Every book I read from this author feeds my need for dragon lore with a contemporary flair. This novella continues to add to the dynamic world of the Dragon Kings. I’m still patiently waiting for Rhi’s story...hint hint dear author... the waiting is killing me! 5 Dragon Loving ⭐️ B2B Mila

3.75 stars. This was a good addition to the Dark Kings series! This was Alex/Alexandra and Dorian's story. Alex is a wealthy woman who inherited millions and is orphaned and lonely with no friends or family. Her family has left her many historical artifacts as well. One item is a very important relic that the Dragon Kings need to help fight their enemy. The king of the dragon kings, Con, awakens Dorian from his thousands of years sleep to send him to New York to get the artifact from Alex. Doria 3.75 stars. When they get to know each other, they find they have a lot in common, with losses in their pasts and loneliness. They begin to fall for each other, but can their love survive when Alex finds out who Dorian really is? I liked Alex and Dorian. They were a good match, if both a little unmemorable. Still I did enjoy the story in the book, as well as the ongoing story arch of the series. This was a quick, easy read. I love the world-building in this series, as well as the suspenseful atmosphere it has. Overall, this was a good, easy read. I definitely recommend this paranormal romance series! *arc provided in exchange for an honest review*

I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. Alex hold a relic that could be a key to a war brewing between the dragons and the fae.   He's definitely an interesting dragon.   Many things are happening in this story all at once. I enjoy how these Dragon Kings interact with each other and assist one another in their common goal. Adding Alex to his mix is not something Dorian counted on but definitely turns out to be beneficial to all of Dragon especially Dorian.  You can read this novella even if you've not read the other books in this series.  You'll be able to jump right in here and then continue either before or after.  I hope you enjoy these dragons as much as I do!

Can one woman heal a heart full of anger? I loved it! This is a quick novella that lead us further down the rabbit hole into the lives of the Dragon Kings, Druids and the Fae. Dorian has been asleep since the other dragons were sent away to a different realm. He was angry about something that happened in the dragon/human war. When he wakes up he is still full of anger and hate towards humans. But Con needs him for a mission to retrieve an artifact and he is the only one that can do it. Alex is the only member of her family left. Her family has collected artifacts and been extremely rich for many generations. One night she partakes in an auction where all proceeds go to the Wounded Veterans group. She will go on one date with the winner. Dorian wins the bid on Alex. He must figure out a way to get the artifact without stealing. But things aren't always what they seem in this book. There are a few twists and turns involving Usaeil and to an extent, This. As always I look forward to reading about more Kings finding their mates and more information on the enemy or enemies that are after them all.

I love this series! Dorian, King of the Corals, is awake after centuries of being asleep to suppress his hatred of the mortals that inhabit the Earth. Con sends him on a mission to recover a lost artifact that may help with the Kings latest enemy. All he has to do is get close to a human woman that has the artifact locked up. But Alexandra is not every woman. She's smart and beautiful and sexy but her wealth has her trapped in a life of loneliness and fearfulness not knowing who to trust. Along comes Dorian and she's intrigued and smitten but how will she feel upon discovering his real reason for romancing her? I loved her response. So smart! Dorian is captivated by Alex and it softens his hatred for all humans. And let's not forget the sizzling chemistry between the two. Hot! As usual, there's tons of action and adventure along with the sexy times. More sexy, Scottish dragons, please! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

In Dragon Night, Dorian leaves Draegan for the first time since the Dragon Wars on a special mission. So... I'm on the fence about Dragon Night. On the one hand, if you're unfamiliar with the Dragon Kings world, it's a great intro to the series (as is the norm with 1001 Dark Night novellas). That being said, I really did enjoy the book, the story is super interesting, it just felt like a bit of a whirlwind to me. It did serve the purpose of making me want to read the series from the beginning at some point in time, though in a world as vast as the one created by Donna Grant, I know that I'll have to wait until I can fully commit to diving in. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Dorian's hatred for humanity has kept him isolated in his mountain for millennia but an artifact's protections make it necessary for him to awaken. She was also compassionate, empathetic, and endlessly feeling which allowed her to be the balm Dorian's soul needed. Together they were wonderful, both passionate and intelligent. Without reading any of the rest of the series I'd have to say that you wouldn't be completely lost, but there are so many relationships and connections and references that you'd be better off if you did. As a standalone it was alright, but as a part of the Dark Kings series, it was fantastic.

The hype is real people! Reading this novella made me wanna go and read all the books in the series and anxiously wait for the future ones. The novella can be read as stand alone (since that's how I read it) but it also moves forward the main plot of the books, so if you are familiar with the series you wouldn't want to miss it. I don't think that anyone will have a problem with getting into the story especially after Dorian explains a part of the lore if not all to Alex. For a novella it gives The hype is real people! For a novella it gives us a lot of details and I am happy for that because I felt like I knew what was going on in the universe. The relationship between the two main characters was good enough for me and due to the length of the story it was based on insta-lust which was OK in my book. I am very satisfied with the novella overall and I would most certainly recommend it to the new and not so new readers.

Dragon Night by Donna Grant is a novella set in the Dark Kings world and story 89 in the 1001 Dark Nights world. Dragon Night is Dorian and Alexandra's story. Dorian is a charming scottish hunter. He never ever lost a hunt and now he's hunting for a relic for the Dragon kin. Alexandra Sheridan is the owner of aforementioned relic, she's smart and when she meets Dorian both have this crazy attraction. Only Dorian keeps a lot of secrets and a wall between them. I awoke for this..... Dragon Night is a sweet read. Donna never fails to capture your attention and also leaves you wanting more. I will never get tired of this series I live the dragon kings. Every king has an honest reason to hate humans but i think Dorian might have the biggest. Yet he over comes all to help his fellow kings. Alex is all alone, no family but lots and lots of money. Knowing she can't trust anyone after being burned to many times she just wants to get the date over with. The power of love heals one very broken angry dragon heart, and gives one very lonely heiress the one thing she wants a family and love.

This one was fun! It was also a tad different because usually the dragon king shows his woman who he is but in this one Alex accidentally sees Dorian shift and then later confronts him about it. Also, Dorian has been asleep since the dragons left the realm a millennial ago and he really hates humans. Those two aspects of the character development made this one fresh and fun and exciting. I loved their story. The plot and conflict is building and I am SO ready to find out who Rhi’s Dragon king is This one was fun! Loved this book! If you are looking for a new author you cant go wrong with a 1001 Dark Nights book! I have never read Donna Grant but I am hooked! Dragon Night is about Dorian a Dragon King who has awaken to try to get an object the Kinds need. Alexandra is a heiress who is used to keeping people at arms length. This book has mystery, action, steamy romance and chemistry. I have not read any other books in the series and I could follow along with the story just fine! Another 5 star read!

Dragon Night Ms Grant has done it again. Another book in a series by an author that has a large following, that is very respected and that is well liked by her readers. Ms Grant's books always keep you wanting more. The readers want more and the books are so good, they give the readers what they want. Everyone waits impatiently for the next book. If you love dragons, you need to add this author to your library to read over and over which many of Ms Grant's readers do

Dorian is one of the Dragon Kings and he has a painful past with humans. He is awakened and charged with getting an object from heiress Alexandra Sheridan. The Dragons are in trouble without it. Alexandra is lonely and also has a painful past. The couple meet at a charity auction, Dorian wins a date with Alexandra. This is a short but good read. I will be diving into other books in this series by this author.
