I would liken this book to a roller coaster ride. The excitement at the very beginning when you strap in to begin and then the climb to the top. During the climb, you get to meet all of the players and become invested in their lives and what's going on with them. You begin to feel for them because you know what's going to happen. Then, at the halfway point, hang on! You're not going to want to put the book down. The author did a great job moving through the five different viewpoints that are represented in this book. He keeps you interested in what's going on and how it's going to affect everyone involved. The idea that the US government could possibly pull this off, and with such a massive retaliation from China, is realistic. We already believe the government is too big and can't keep track of itself and what one lone person might be able to do if he or she wields too much power with an object such as the HAARP. My biggest complaint about this book is the ending. It could have ended sooner than it did. Outside of that, I enjoyed every minute of reading it and even cried a bit at the end. I don't do that often, so excellent job, DF Capps. This is definitely an author to keep an eye on in the future.

Tsunami Storm is both a disaster novel and a war novel. The US has developed technology to control the weather and cause earthquakes. Someone in the middle management of the various covert agencies decides to use the technology to punish the enemies of the United States, namely anyone who doesn’t recognize them as the world leaders. When an earthquake in China is traced by Chinese scientists to the US technology a new arms race is on involving weapons which don’t officially exist. Like most books Tsunami Storm is both a disaster novel and a war novel. The US has developed technology to control the weather and cause earthquakes. When an earthquake in China is traced by Chinese scientists to the US technology a new arms race is on involving weapons which don’t officially exist. Like most books of this type the first part of the book is about setting up the characters and locations for the disasters and the people who will be the villains or heroes of the day. The characters are likable if a little predictable, and the tension around the final big disaster is well managed. This is a good read if you’re looking for some escapism and some really good descriptions of the sub battle and disasters.

Disaster is on its way. Wow what a good book. The best book that I have read in years. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time I was reading it. The knowledge of David Capps was incredibly, I truly felt this Tsunami Storm was so real and possible. The story was so believable. What a good book.

What a scary story. Scary because I can see it really happening. This story had good characters that i cared about. It was a little like clancy with too much technical details for me, but it didn't detract from the story. I really enjoyed reading this book. Hopefully, that earthquake/tsunami never happen.

I loved this book. The author takes four separate story lines and interweaves them to create an intense and scary novel. I assume all the submarine stuff was accurate because the author used to work on one. Those scenes were some of the most detailed, graphic, and tension-filled of the whole novel. A rogue element of the US government (just three men) uses a secret weapon to cause devastation in China. Then China decides it is going to retaliate and we learn about all their plans. While this is going on, a town along the Oregon coast is undergoing disaster training "just in case", and a young woman is working in the torpedo room of the USS Massachusetts. All of these stories intersect and you don't know whether World War III is starting or even if the US will still exist in its current status in the world. What is most scary about the book is that so few people in the government can bring the world to the brink of war. I have no idea if the weapons described actually exist, but I hope not. Unfortunately, if they don't now, they probably will in the future. As I stated earlier, the action aboard the submarine is the most riveting part of the book. It is amazing to hear these highly-trained officers and crewmen perform their jobs with courage and brilliance. They plat cat and mouse with a Chinese submarine and the dialogue and actions taken by the crew are so vividly described that you feel like you can see their faces and hear their voices and feel the fear of being in a submarine, under the water, where they are alone and under intense pressure. You can also sense the courage and willingness of the crew to do anything to protect their ship and their crewmates. I highly recommend this book. It is both a warning of the implications of unmitigated power and an awesome submarine adventure. It will also leave you with the knowledge of how precarious peace, the economy, and governments are, which is probably the scariest part of the book.

Tsunami Storm turned out to be much more than just a simple disaster tale. A war of weather weapons and disasters, submarine warfare, political rivalry and corruption, and some good character relationships to tie it all together. And, of course, a wicked earthquake and tsunami mowing down buildings and literally beating the crap out of people. One of the better natural disaster books I've read. I'm also partial to submarine stories, so, I might be a bit biased. But, still, it was entertaining and Tsunami Storm turned out to be much more than just a simple disaster tale. I consider this to be a Must Read Story for Every American Citizen! Too few of us are aware of the politics and technology of the world we live in today. In addition, few of us even realize the highly precarious position of the U.S. monetary/debt and how this inter-relates to our status as a world power. It would be my recommendation that this finely written novel be a must read in High Schools across America the same as "1984" by Orson Wells was when I was in school! As Good As Tom Clancy This is a really good book! It really made me wonder about disasters that happen around the world. Good characters, very well developed. At first it is very slow moving as the author sets up the story line, but then it moves quickly. As the wife of a retired Navy Submariner, the author does a good job of depicting the life on a submarine. There are heroes and one man you'll be glad to see get what he deserves. I recommend this book! Great read!

Naturally China retaliates by inventing a similar weather-control device, that it threatens to unleash on the Pacific Seaboard of the US, that it considers the aggressor, despite presidential and Government denials. Can the truth be uncovered and the terrifying possibility that there will be incredible loss of life and property on continental America be averted? Only one submarine and one intrepid commander - Tiffany Grimes and her crew of the USS Massachusetts - can make the vital difference, but will they arrive in time to avert disaster? Meanwhile can Mayor Willa McBride save her new family-like community in Dolphin Beach, which stands in the direct path of the eponymous tsunami storm that will destroy them all if not averted or stopped altogether? And what agenda does her sister, Senator Elizabeth Bechtel or Oregon have in seeking the perpetrators - true altruism to save her beloved country's citizens? Or a secret personal one, that will further her huge ambitions for higher office? To find out these answers and enjoy a 'could be' alternate reality future for the world, due to global warming and pollution damage, that will make you think what values you really hold dear. How far removed are we from these threats and have we any way to counter them. A thought-provoking read.

An extremely well plotted novel In the spirit of being honest, I received a free copy via a give-away - but if I bought it I would still say the same. If you enjoy complex plots, high tech hardware and realistic people - this is a banger of story. All aspects that aren't black level (ie HAARP) are described in realistic detail. The pacing of the story and its parts, personal and governmental, dovetail together to keep you wanting to read more. Tsunami Storm Tsunami Storm is a very good blend of politics, sci-fi, and military fiction. The action taking place at sea is well done. The politics are believable. The science fiction is probably the weakest link but doesn't keep this story from being well worth reading, and with a five star Goodreads review!

Too Possible A well written story containing a scenario that could be possible in the near future. Much of the technology contained in the plot may already exist and the human element described is all too real. Living in the Pacific Northwest, the possibilities are sobering. Good read!

Natural disaster? Each character was integral to the story which flowed from setting to setting to create a whole story which was based on one man's decision to use advanced technologies to cause terrible events. That decision brought two countries to the brink of war. And the public will never be told the whole truth about why or how it happened.

Excellent story! Makes ya wonder... This well written story and it's amazing characters is an eye-opener! Though it is fictional, the probabilities of events described is not unlikely. I recommend this book to anyone interested in an open minded approach to possible disaster and covert machinations. Well done!

This was a very intriguing read. Sad part is I believe this could actually happen I am sure parts of this is going on now. But we would probably go right into WWIII. We can only imagine what all the government does in secret, and some we don't want to. The USA causes a horrific earthquake in China. So China retaliates. Only things don't go quite as planned.

This book has interesting characters, a fascinating plot, and leaves you slightly unsettled. The ability to control the weather or cause earthquakes in countries that are being uncooperative makes you wonder if technology of this sort of technology should be allowed to exist. This book definitely goes in my read again collection.

Since the first several chapters are the set up,I really had my doubts as to whether I would be able to keep all the characters and locales straight, but then suddenly everything came together, and the flow was smooth as silk, even though fast-paced.It surprised me how easy it was. Lots of action, tension, and a great story. Can't wait to read another by this author to see if his skill is consistent.I wish him success in his writing, because I thoroughly enjoyed reading such a thriller without the profanity, graphic sex,and gruesome gore that keeps me from enjoying too many authors. Highly recommended!
